Travel Teams
Welcome to the Ancaster Little League Travel Teams Program. Travel teams are rewarding and fun for everyone, but they do require a higher level of commitment from players and parents. Ancaster Little League offers Travel Teams for T Ball (7U to 8U), Baseball (9U to 16U), and Softball (9U to 12U).

Tryouts and Selection Process
Tryouts are scheduled in early September. Players are evaluated in pitching, hitting, fielding, throwing, and running.
We typically have a large number of players try out each year. Unfortunately, some players will not make a Travel Team for their level. If your child does not make the travel team, we strongly encourage them to continue with the house program and participate in development clinics offered by the League.
Roster Announcements
The final selection process is completed by most teams the same day or within a few days after tryouts are complete. Due to differences in the number of players trying out by age group, some teams may take a little longer than others. It is the responsibility of the player’s parent or guardian to ensure the league has the correct email address and phone number at tryouts.
Travel Team Requirements
In season
Expectations differ by level and coach. Most teams practice 1 to 2 times per week and play in roughly 3 to 6 tournaments.
House League requirement
Players who make a travel team are also required to play House League. House League requirements may differ between teams and age groups. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to understand the House League requirements before committing to a Travel Team. Players who do not meet required House League commitments will be removed from their Travel Team.
Off Season Training
Following the September tryouts, training may begin right away for some teams. Fall outdoor practices may be scheduled as weather and field conditions allow. During winter months, teams schedule indoor practices 1 to 2 times per week at a gym or training facility. Every team will have a different schedule depending on the coach and available facilities.
Player Costs
There are two costs parents should consider when committing to a Travel Team.
1) League fees
There is a non refundable 75 dollar Travel Team fee that must be paid within 2 days of committing to a team. This fee goes directly to the League to cover league related expenses for teams.
2) Team fees
Team fees are collected by the Head Coach or Team Treasurer and are used to cover indoor facility rentals, tournaments, uniforms, equipment, and other team costs. Costs vary by team and are determined by the coach after a team budget is completed. Estimated team fees range from 500 to 2,000 dollars. Fundraising and sponsorship opportunities are team decisions and can reduce team fees.
Uniforms
Uniforms are standard for all Travel Teams. Players are typically fitted in December or January.
District Tournament Teams
District tournament teams are separate from Travel Teams. Players who are accepted on a Travel Team are still required to try out for a District Tournament Team. Tryouts for District tournament teams are announced in the spring as per Little League rules. For more information, please visit the District Teams section on the website.
